Getting out of Free Trial

I just signed up and I see I was given some credits and it says I’m on free trial. At what point do I get out of free trial? Does that happen when my credits are used up or is there an action that I take to get out of the trial and into production?

When I first created the agent, it allowed me to preview and select voices from ElevenLabs and Cartesia. But when I started testing it, it switched to OpenAI voices and I can’t see a way to switch back. And I’m wondering if that’s also because I’m in the trial, which again makes me want to know how to get out of the trial so I can test this properly.

Based on the sources, adding a payment method is required to continue using Retell services after the trial period.(1) The trial ends when your free credits are used up.(2)

To transition from trial to production, you need to add a payment method via Stripe.(1) This is done by navigating to the Billing tab in your dashboard and clicking “Change payment methods.”(1) Once you add payment information, services are charged on a monthly basis.(3)

Retell offers a free $10 credit and limited concurrent calls for testing.(4)(5) After the trial, you’ll be on a pay-as-you-go model starting at $0.07+ per minute.(4)(5)

Once I’m out of the trial, will I be able to use ElevenLabs and Cartesia voices? Because right now it seems to limit me to OpenAI voices.

The limitation to OpenAI voices is related to your LLM model choice, not your trial status.(1)

If you’re using OpenAI’s “realtime” models, you’ll be limited to only OpenAI voices.(1) To access ElevenLabs and other voice providers, change your LLM to 4o, 4o mini, or Claude Sonnet.(1) Once you make this change, you’ll have access to ElevenLabs voices.(1)

Retell supports voices from multiple providers including ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Deepgram, Cartesia, and Minimax.(2)(3) You can add custom voices from ElevenLabs community voices or create voice clones.(4) There’s a limit of 100 custom voices per account.(4)

OH! It’s because I chose gpt 4o mini realtime as the LLM.

Which LLMs support ElevenLabs and Cartesia voices?

You’re correct! When using OpenAI’s realtime models (like gpt-4o-realtime or gpt-4o-mini-realtime), you’re limited to only OpenAI voices.(1)

To access ElevenLabs and other voice providers like PlayHT, you need to use text-based LLM models instead of the speech-to-speech realtime models.(1)

Text-based LLMs that support ElevenLabs voices include:(2)(3)(4)(5)

Switch from gpt-4o-mini-realtime to one of these text-based models (like gpt-4.1-mini or claude-4.5-sonnet) to gain access to ElevenLabs and PlayHT voices.(1)
