Agent randomly reverts to a previous state, sometimes losing hours of work. My current workaround is to publish constantly, which is not ideal and I still lose work sometimes. I still don’t know what triggers it but I usually realise while I’m testing through the manual chat interface.

Spent 4-5 hours customizing the new agent in the secondary workspace + published, nothing saved

Yeah that’s rough. Check if you’re editing in multiple tabs or windows — Retell doesn’t handle concurrent edits well and will revert to whatever was last published. Also make sure you’re not refreshing the page mid-edit without saving first. If you’re doing neither of those, reach out to support with that agent ID and they can check the logs to see what’s actually happening. Publishing frequently isn’t ideal but it’s the safest move until you figure out the root cause.
Another thing to check is whether your phone number is set up as the agent’s correct version. sometimes we need to double check on phone number’s tab
Sounds like you’re hitting a sync issue between your editor session and the backend. Check if you have multiple tabs or browser windows open with the same agent — that’s the most common culprit. The system doesn’t handle concurrent edits well and the last window to refresh wins, nuking everything else. Close all but one tab and try again. If it keeps happening, the manual publish workaround is honestly your best bet until you figure out the pattern, since unpublished changes are always at risk in the current version.
