I can't update any agent, this seems like a BUG

When trying to update my agents I get this
I tried copying the agent but get the result: Erro publishing agent, Could not publish agent
Even when modifying the post-call analysis variables!

it happening to my agent that have several versions and more prompt. I also edited their global prompt via API before
I also erased memory and re-logged in and still does not work

Based on similar cases, this issue was resolved by the Retell AI team. [(1) ](Discord "(1)

(Discord)")Since you’ve already tried:

  • Clearing memory and re-logging

  • Different browsers (implied from your troubleshooting)

And the error persists specifically with agents that have multiple versions and API-modified prompts, this appears to be a backend validation issue rather than a client-side problem.

The issue here is that you have two call_summary fields:
the default one, which can’t be removed or have its name changed, but you can change the prompt.
Second one, introduced by you, which you can update or delete

So, what you need to do is remove the second one and change the prompt of the first one if needed to fit your needs

If you want to keep both, you’ll need to rename the second one. However, you must remove it first and then add it again.
