Your iOS 26 Call Screening Blog vs What's Actually in the Product

I’m the founder of DispatchGeeks, and we build AI voice agents for the home services industry. I’ve been evaluating Retell as a platform for our outbound calling operations, specifically because of your iOS 26 call screening claims.

Your blog post ( iOS 26 Call Screening: Best Practices for Outbound | Retell AI ) states that Retell “automatically detects when an iOS AI screener answers a call,” provides “custom call scripts tailored for AI screeners,” and “seamlessly transitions to the full conversation script” once a human picks up. You describe this as an “AI Call Screening Mode.”

I signed up and went through the dashboard. There is no screening mode. There is no automatic screener detection. There is no screening-to-human transition flow. The Create Agent API has no screening-related parameters.

What actually exists is a “Pause before speaking” delay, a system prompt suggestion in your spam docs that says “enhance your agent prompt to construct a smooth response,” and a post-call boolean analysis you configure manually.

That’s prompt engineering advice, not a product feature. Every platform can do that.

I’m dealing with a real technical problem: AI voice agents go silent during the first Siri screening prompt due to STT initialization timing and voicemail misclassification. Your blog implied Retell had solved this at the infrastructure level. It hasn’t.

So my questions are direct:

  1. Is “AI Call Screening Mode” an actual feature that’s shipping, or is it marketing copy for capabilities that don’t exist yet?
  2. If it’s in development, what’s the timeline?
  3. If it’s already live, where exactly do I find it? Because it’s not in the dashboard, the API docs, or the changelog.

I’m currently on Vapi and actively looking to migrate. iOS 26 call screening is the single biggest issue breaking our outbound calls, and if Retell actually builds what’s described in that blog post, we’d move our entire voice infrastructure over. But I need to know what’s real before I commit engineering time to a migration.

I’d appreciate a straight answer.
