We have the option of live monitoring and human takeover in the Retell dashboard — can we get an
API for those features? Our clients log into our own portal rather than Retell, and we’d like to
offer live listen and takeover there. Is it on the roadmap?

Every dashboard action (transcript follow, live listen, take over, steer, end) has an API/SDK equivalent, documented on Monitor calls from your own app:
- Follow transcript – Monitor Call WebSocket or
onTranscriptin the Web SDK - Listen to live audio –
listen()in the Retell Web SDK - Take over from the agent –
takeOver()in the Web SDK - Steer without taking over – Update Live Call or
updateLiveCall() - End the call – Stop Call or
end()
Listen/take-over happen in a browser via WebRTC (one SDK session covers all three), so you can build this into your own portal rather than relying on Retell’s dashboard. Note the security guidance: use a domain-restricted public key or your own proxy since an API key with Call → Edit can take over any ongoing call it knows the ID of.
