Garbled voice on previously working agents

My agents created 9 months ago and previously working the voices have suddenly become garbled. They are all using the latest model, they are using Cartesia,

What tried but didn’t work:

  • Changing the LLM model

  • Changing to a new voice

  • Changing the voice temperature, speed and volume settings

  • Dynnamic variable voice speed is not set

  • Changing noise cancellation options

  • re-configuring pronounciation. These role plays all worked perfectly before

What did work but intermittently was to change to a new voice platform and revert back. But that doesn’t always work.

What is being done to fix this issue? I can’t have my agents failing without being notified. Is this bug being fixed? Because it’s only on agents created earlier, I worry that this will happen en mass to all my newer agents as well.

Hello @info13

Can you please share a few call IDs where you experienced this issue? Providing multiple examples will help us investigate and resolve it more effectively.

Thank You

They happen all the time and were occurring as per these examples with this voice agent below before I fixed it via troubleshooting. I cannot have agents randomly stop working when the settings are not wrong and the settings are the same in the working agents.

Hello @info13

Thanks for reporting that. I’ve shared the call details with the team and asked them to review what can be done. Once we receive a response, we’ll update you accordingly.

Thank You

Hello @info13

You’re currently using a custom voice from Cartesia, which could should be causing lag. Try switching to a different voice provider or voice, and we recommend using one of the native Retell platform voices for smoother performance.

Thank You

No. That is not the issue or the issue is going to plague the thousands of Retell users using Cartesia at all. I used the voices provided in the Cartesia voices from Retell 9 months ago. It isn’t limited to one Cartesia voice. If you’re meaning to say that ANYONE using one of the provided voices for Cartesia within Retell is going to have this issue inevitably then Retell has a more serious issue about to happen!

Basically, are you saying don’t use Cartesia at all or your voice agents will fail with you knowing ? If so, then why are you even offering Cartesia voices?
