Buying a danish number for outbounding

Hi dear community!

I need to get a danish telephone number for OUTBOUND calling!

In the documentation there is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JC3PV_R-Z1Y

However chatgpt. states that for specific outbound usage of the number, the process is an another one. Chatgpt mentions:

For Retell outbound calling, the exact steps depend on whether the +45 number comes from Twilio or from a separate Danish SIP provider.

If you successfully get a +45 number in Twilio:

1. Buy the Danish number

Go to:

Twilio Phone Numbers Console

  • Search for Denmark (+45)

  • Select Voice

  • Purchase the number

2. Connect Twilio to Retell

Open:

Retell AI Dashboard

Then:

  • Go to Phone Numbers / Telephony

  • Choose Connect Twilio

  • Copy the credentials Retell requests (typically Account SID/Auth setup or guided integration)

  • Authorize the connection

3. Assign the number as outbound caller ID

Inside Retell:

  • Open your AI agent

  • Go to Outbound Calling

  • Select Caller ID

  • Choose your new +45 number

  • Save

Can anybody please confirm or give advice regarding usage of danish numbers!

Thanks a ton in advance!

Hey @undervisning Retell only sells US and Canada numbers directly — Denmark (+45) is not available for direct purchase. To use a Danish number, you need to import one via custom telephony (e.g., Twilio Elastic SIP Trunking).

The actual process differs from what ChatGPT described — it’s SIP trunking, not a “Connect Twilio” wizard:

  1. In Twilio: Create an Elastic SIP Trunk, configure Termination (outbound) — whitelist Retell’s SIP SBC CIDR 18.98.16.120/30 or set username/password auth. Configure Origination (inbound) to sip:sip.retellai.com. Purchase/move the +45 number into this trunk.

  2. Enable international dialing in Twilio: Search “geo” → Voice Geographic Permissions → select “Elastic SIP Trunking” → enable Denmark.

  3. In Retell: Import the number, supplying the Termination SIP URI (and username/password if used).

  4. Assign your agent to the imported number — outbound calls will use it as caller ID automatically.

You can watch that video and follow to connect. Thank You
