Turbo v2 TTS voice randomly gets louder mid-call

Hey, I’m using ElevenLabs Turbo v2, and sometimes the TTS voice suddenly gets louder for a moment in the middle of a sentence, or at the start of a new one, and then goes back to normal.

It usually happens once or twice per call, at different points each time. The text is normal, so it’s not intentional, just sounds like the voice jumps in volume for a and changes tone for a second and then goes back to normal.

It’s honestly easier to listen to than to explain.

Anyone else seeing this or know what might be causing it?

Hi @luigi

Could you please share the call IDs. This will help us investigate the issue more effectively.

Thank you!

Hi @luigi

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve forwarded it to our internal team for review

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Best regards

Hi @luigi

After looking into both calls, we can see your agent is using a custom cloned voice with the Turbo v2 model, with the volume set at 1 (default). At this setting, the audio from the voice engine passes through without any volume adjustments on our end.

The volume fluctuations you’re hearing are originating from the voice engine itself — neural TTS models can produce slightly varying loudness levels across different utterances, and this is more pronounced with cloned voices.

Here are a few things you can try that may help reduce the effect:

  1. Lower the voice temperature (e.g., try 0.2 or 0.1) — this increases voice stability and may reduce output variation.
  2. Try a different voice model — switching to Turbo v2.5 or v3 in your voice settings may produce more consistent output.

Thank You
