Switchvox/retell

Has anyone successfully integrated Switchvox with Retell?

What kind of issue are you facing? Switchvox is a relatively old box, I hadn’t seen one of those in a while now.

Hey @diegojrm Switchvox isn’t a named integration, but you can connect it to Retell via BYOC (Custom Telephony) since Switchvox supports SIP trunking.

High-level setup:

  • Inbound (Switchvox → Retell): On Switchvox, create a SIP provider/trunk that routes the DID out to Retell’s SIP ingress, using a supported transport and codec.
  • Outbound (Retell → Switchvox): Ask Switchvox (or your upstream SIP provider behind it) for a termination FQDN/IP + port, and pick one auth method — IP-allowlist Retell’s egress ranges on your SBC, or SIP digest credentials on INVITE. Note: REGISTER-only trunks are not supported — the trunk must accept static IP-auth or INVITE digest.
  • Import into Retell: In the dashboard, add the DID as a Custom Phone Number with the termination URI + credentials.

The current SIP ingress URI, egress IP ranges, supported codecs, and TLS/SRTP constraints are in the Custom Telephony guide — please pull the exact values from there rather than hardcoding, since they change: Connect Retell voice agents to custom telephony - Retell AI

A couple of things to confirm on the Switchvox side before starting:

  • Your edition/plan exposes a customer-configurable SIP trunk (both origination and termination).
  • The DID is bound to that trunk.
  • If you need cold transfer with the original caller’s number preserved, your upstream carrier must accept the transferred CLI.

Thank You

Switchvox was the original company before being acquired by Sangoma, and it’s a highly recognized PBX solution. I successfully configured the system and now have established SIP connectivity between Switchvox and Retail AI, with full bidirectional communication back to Switchvox.

THKS

I successfully established SIP connectivity from Switchvox to Retail AI and back to Switchvox. This was accomplished through trial and error, leveraging information previously provided by both Retell and Switchvox teams.
