If i had to make 100 calls of under a minute within india every month what is the expected cost that i would incur for the same.
The main cost driver here is telephony, because calls to India through Retell’s bundled numbers are charged at international rates. Per the international call rates doc it’s $0.15/min via Twilio or $0.25/min via Telnyx. On top of that you pay the voice engine ($0.055/min infra plus $0.015/min for a standard voice) and the LLM, which varies a lot by model. GPT 4.1 is $0.045/min for example, and the small models are under a cent.
So for 100 calls at a minute each, worst case is about 100 minutes. With Twilio, a standard voice and GPT 4.1 that lands around $0.27/min, so roughly $26 to $28 USD a month plus a couple of dollars for the number. Billing is tracked to the second, so if your calls average 40 seconds you’ll pay noticeably less than that.
If you’re calling within India at any real volume, look at bringing your own SIP trunk from a local Indian carrier via Retell’s custom telephony. Retell doesn’t charge for custom telephony, so you’d only pay the engine and LLM side (call it $0.115/min, about $11.50 for 100 minutes) plus your carrier’s local rates, which are far cheaper than $0.15. It also gets you a local caller ID, which helps pickup rates. I haven’t run an India specific deployment myself, so check the telecom rules with your carrier before committing.
