# Enable Albanian language speech recognition ( multilingual STT )

Hi Retell Team,

My speech-to-text only works in English.

Deepgram does not recognize Albanian.  
Azure gives error: “Custom STT provider ‘azure’ does not support language ‘multi’”.

I need Albanian (sq-AL) speech recognition enabled for my workspace.

Could you please enable multilingual STT support?

Retell AI currently supports 31+ languages, but Albanian (sq-AL) is not explicitly listed among them[(1)](https://www.retellai.com/blog/how-to-use-ai-phone-agents-for-multilingual-communication). The supported languages include English (US, India, UK, Australia, New Zealand), Spanish (Spain, Latin America), French, Chinese, German, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil), Russian, Italian, Korean, Dutch, Dutch (Belgium), Polish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Romanian, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Indonesian, Norwegian, Slovak, Swedish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Malay, Catalan, and Thai[(1)](https://www.retellai.com/blog/how-to-use-ai-phone-agents-for-multilingual-communication).

For languages not officially supported by Retell AI’s standard ASR, you can select `multi` for multilingual support in the language settings[(2)](https://docs.retellai.com/api-references/get-agent). However, as noted in community discussions, multilingual ASR uses a general/multilingual model which can cause transcription errors[(3)](https://discord.com/channels/1186424376300679209/1186462578310910112/1455563780745334837).

Regarding your Azure custom STT error, the `custom_stt_config` with provider `azure` has specific limitations[(2)](https://docs.retellai.com/api-references/get-agent). The error you’re experiencing suggests that Azure’s custom STT implementation within Retell AI doesn’t support the `multi` language setting.

my AI - Vietnamese can’t event take phone numbers Regardless I tried to push it to highest level AI ( most expensive ) . Is there any way to improve ?
